Laguna Seca - Free practice times (1).

Title contender Dani Pedrosa, who fractured his left hand and sprained his right ankle last Sunday in Germany, completed 21 laps...

Stoner just obliterated everyone. This is getting boring to watch. We need to get rid of the electronics or give all teams and standard ECU like F1 does so that it's more fair.

We need to implement a standard ECU. This is getting boring to watch. Stoner just obliterated everyone. No one is even close to him. He almost had 2 seconds on the closest competitor at one point. This is one area to copy from Formula1.

Hacking did well for his first session. Beat Westy, and only one tenth behind Spies who has a lot more seat time on a GP bike.

Not a lot to say 1.21.915 against 1.22.679
and there must be a misprint
M Melandri 5th on a Ducati @ 1.23.455 ????
top ten 4 Honda's
3 Ducati's
2 Yamaha's
1 Suzuki
should be an interesting race
JT 18th ????

Casey is so much faster than anyone else its only a matter of time until he pushes it to far and has a big off just like germany where he was very very lucky.

Do you realy think after that session that would make a difference
I don't think so
F1 what difference did it make there absolutely good damm nothing
They still cannot overtake and the danger seems to be higher
F1 is just about qualifying only now that is boring
goes back to Build the package or loose

Stoner is not one to sandbag, so it seems.

Poor James, the crash at Donington must have taken all his confidence away.
Pedrosa must be in a lot of pain and hopping for a miracle to salvage decent points sunday. Go Mini P!
Hacking and Spies seemed to do okay.
Nice to Melandri doing well. He's a fighter and a racer at the racing and fans gain nothing seeing him drag himself at the back.
6th for Haydne is okay. Hopefully he'll improve.
Nakano anyone?

That's amazing. Sunday should be a breeze for Casey. Melandri is a pleasant surprise in 5th.

As far as a standard ECU goes, do not attribute so much to the electronics. I know it is easy for us to speculate, but Stoner/Ducati is magic. And, proposing a rule based on F1 is plain nutty. That is the last place anyone should look to make the racing better. When was the last time F1 was exciting? 1967? Do that, and next thing you know, MotoGP will be running grooved tires and spec engine configurations. Maybe we can have Max and Bern show us how it's done. Forget it.

The japanese had better get back to the drawing board and quick or there will only be stoner fans watching there won't be much point in anybody else doing so...
I don't know what ducati have done but Casey did 4 laps way off the pace went into the pits, they plugged it in and when he came back out he was over 2 seconds a lap quicker. Well done ducati you have changed they way motogp bikes are built...
The only thing in the japs favour is that it's much easier to find soemthing when you know it's there, because without seeing Casey 1.5 -3 secs ahead of most, the japs wouldn't believe it was poss... I would say well done Casey but he didn't even look like he was trying..

Marco 5th?. He is normally 18th all through practice and qualifying. I am torn between Melandri and Edwards for the win.

@paul 27 Stoner was getting his @ss handed to him until after testing at Catalunya when Ducati made another breakthrough with ELECTRONICS. Even Stoner himself credits that to his recent success. HE has won EVERY race since then. Yeah Paul, it has nothing to do with electronics (LAUGHS). You Stoner Fanboys kill me. Pedrobot walked all over him in 250, Rossi walked all over him when he was on the Honda, and now he Moves to Ducati and is instantly better than the 2 guys that consistently cleaned his clock. The only thing, I'll give you is that he can ride a computer assisted bike better than Melandri. He's no Rossi or Pedrosa for sure. Even Melandri walked him when they were both with Honda.
