Rossi fighting to stay in touch.

Rossi fighting to stay in touch.

Valentino Rossi's hopes of repelling Casey Stoner's title attack before the summer break received a serious blow when the Italian finished day one of the US Grand Prix a worrying 0.8secs behind the Ducati star.

How refreshing of Lorenzo. Most rider's egos would be too big to admit they are struggling to match the top AMA Superbikes in lap times. Still, the AMA guys have done one or two laps around Laguna... Rossi is doing what Rossi always does: work hard with his crew for a set-up. The fact the base Yamaha set-up wasn't too far away should indicate that if they take a different tack to Friday afternoon, they should be closer to the mark on Saturday. Unlike the dribblers here, Valentino applies his brain to the problem at hand.

George - I have just emailed Valentino Firmware v2.34 - He should therefore now have no excuses to be slower than Casey.

Maybe the Poms can pitch in and buy Toseland a new computer program for his bike? What's he running, a ZX Spectrum?

Foo - Toseland isnt running a computer with transistors at all. He decided to use an ENIAC utilising older valve technology as it provides a more "analog" feel

Traction is very important on ze motogp bike. Ziss iz why ze Michellynne tyre is ze vary vary hard tyre. We have been working vary hard on ze hard tyre, but I too will blame ze problem on ze traction control. I wish I worked at Bridgestone.

Year 1. 7 crashed out races, 1DNF, ZERO Wins.
Year 2. Bike Change. 10 Wins, Total Domination of dudes that were smoking you just 6 months prior, Wins Title. If you believe that during those 6 months someones skill increased to that level, I have a bridge to sell you. It's similar to Randy Depuniet switching to Suzuki Next year and dominating the championship like never before. When that type of thing happens, believe me it's not a revelation in rider skill. It's equipment. I like stoner as much as the next guy but I won't lie to myself because of a Fan. Look at practice so far. You think Nakano had a skill increase. One word BRIDGESTONES. People, lets not kid ourselves.

If Nicky all of a sudden won 6 races in a row, I'm a fan, but the fact would be that it was probably due to MAJOR progress in equipment. Don't let your fanboyism fool what you truly know. Fanboyism is a powerful thing but intelligence is more powerful if you pay attention to it.

I'm super curious to see my boy Nicky on the Ducati next year. He has a dirt track background like stoner, but he complained about the TC on the Honda a while back. It's going to be interesting to see what he can do. I hope he doesn't end up like Marco. Marco is such an amazing rider and it was sad to see him in the back. Loris probably would have won the WC on the Duc had he not had those injuries. He and Stoner are the only ones to be able to ride it. I also can't wait to see Dovi on a factory bike. He's gonna steal some wins too.

Sometimes I think this forum is just one Rossi supporter and one Stoner supporter Arguing with eachother. They both have 50 accounts, so that it looks like more people agree with them. After every practice session they just copy and paste the standard comments and change a few words to make it look original.

Wow!
AMA boys are really fast!
Bet a road-going stock R1 is within 10 sec. of Stoner's pace around the track.

Something besides just electronics changed between 06 and 07 George to fix Stoner's crashing. Unless you're insinuating that TC can save a front end tuck, which was the majority of Stoner's crashes in 06. I like Stoner and think he is a great rider, hell, he made me a nice chunk of change in 07 when I bet pre-season for him to win the WC. I do admit he's not Rossi's level yet, but he's still better then a large portion of the grid and I enjoy watching him ride. But, invest in de Angelis for 09 if he isn't on a satellite bike.

Rossi will announce that he signed with Yamaha through 2010. This could be a sign that he believes that Yamaha can up it's effort to match Ducati's bike. why else would he sign instead of exploring the possibilities of a Ducati ride. Anyone know of any info on this please post. I am tired of the slagging. Post some intelligent stuff people....I for one am beginning to tune out of this website because I read the same **** different day, everyday.

Hey George... in 2005 five wins, five podiums and 2nd in the championship on a privateer bike.

In 2006 when he did finish it was mostly in the top 6 and he ended up 8th in the championship. He did get a pole in round two and one 2nd place finish in Turkey.

The rest of the field has a lot of work to do to catch stoner on saturday and sunday, which I'm sure will happen to some extent. After Westy's crash and the stoppage, Stoner did 14 laps in a block: 11 of them faster than Hayden or Rossi's fastest laps. Hayden bumped Rossi on his last lap for 2nd but that was the only lap he did in the 1:22's. Rossi managed 7 laps in the 1:22's, and was consistently faster than NH overall. JB and the boys will have their thinking caps on tonight. It will be very interesting to see what they come out with on saturday FP3. Can Stoner really go any faster??? The benchmark is very high just at the moment

Thanks for firmware Mr Squiggle!! After you've send it to me my iPod is running so fast!! Listening to some of the Rossi fans, I'm now convinced and will install the firmware also on my scooter and join the grid. If some boy from no ware in Australia is winning so easy, then I could do it myself! By the way, Rossi got the 2.34 version BUT you sent him the pre-complied version?? You must pack the firmware as a EXE file, otherwise he can not install it!! :-) By the way, Stoner is running Linux not Microsoft, so all of you Rossetes have no idea about what you are talking about!
