How much will Stoner win by?

Sort Comments:

How much could Stoner win by?

Casey Stoner's average advantage over his nearest rival, during the four track sessions held so far this weekend at Laguna Seca, has been 0.6815secs.

Bye bye Marco - you forgot you are actually supposed to get results and not rely on a handful of past wins to get you through. You didn't exactly bring anything to the Ducati table, did you. Spies and Stoner for 2009. Yes!

I dont get why Stoner has so many critics regarding his off track behaviour. He always compliments his team and give all the other riders their due respect. Same with Pedrosa - his mistake in Estoril when crashing into Nicky was unfortunate as were a few of his comments about his team mate but in general he has been very gracious in victory and defeat. I wish people would stop canning these guys. The enormous pressures they are under would be very difficult for anyone to bear and I wonder how some of these critics (Marty, Jimmy, Grumpy, Gina etc) would handle themselves in the same situation. If some of their childish rantings are anything to go by I am sure they would be PR disasters.

Jeez, this is sooo good. Me bike whizzes around the track while I chill out in the pool at the Marriot, it gets pole (with a blow-up doll in my leathers tied to it) and still the others are whingin' Me an the boys worked out Dani's advantage a while back. He's only 48 kg. So we sez, "if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em" which is 'ow we came up with this new direction. The blow-up doll and leathers plus helmet and boots weighs just 5 kg, so we've well an' truly *****d Honda. Too bad Dani got hurt so bad, but we were so far down the track with our new strategy, we just had to go with it. We were worried Valentino would work it out, so we kept the bike in the garage as much as possible.

Nicky Hayden was super fired up in qualifying!

Rossi gets terrible starts, I can see Nicky doing a 'Pedrosa' on Casey tommorow due to the excitement of the moment and pushing Casey wide into the sand.

If that happened it would be a welcome change to the snore fest so far this year.

Nicky winning (red faced), gets HRC the podium and Rossi in 2nd place!

Even better, Melandri 4th behind Lorenzo. Now that would be one hell of a race.

Now I've had a few coldies, an' they reckon it's goin' t'be hot tomorra, well, at least that's what Nicky sez, I think I'll just stay in the pool with me wife and do a few easy laps an' let the others sweat it out at the track. Some bloke called Jimmy keeps callin' an' askin' me t throw the race to Valentino because he has placed a big pile o pounds on the Yamaha winnin' ... Well, all I kin say is Ducati an Phillip Morris are payin' more than Jimmy's offerin', plus he's a Pom. So no deal. The real good thing about this deal is I'm nicen fresh fer the TV cameras at the end, so long as I don't get stuck in the traffic on the way over from the 'otel...

Hey Stacey - did you steal that Claudia Schiffer blow up doll from Valentino? He was still using that you know! Better replace it with another one before he notices it's missing

Jeez, some people! That Jimmy, he'll do anything to win his bet. Now he's got some ol fart of a doctor stickin' pins in a doll. Glad it's not me blow-up one tho. That'd let the cat oughta the bag. An' sheeet, gettin' Nicky to crash me bike outa tha race, what would the ambos maka that? I better 'ave a team meetin' quickish. Maybe I'll 'ave t op outa tha pooool an get down to the track before the start, put on my other leathers an' 'ide in the sand trap at Turn One just in case. ONce me bike whizzes past, I'll sneal back to the 'hotel for a coolin' dip, then get back to the paddock in time for me toy bike to arrive back. I'm rerally likin' this. It was Bernie who tole me 'ow t do it...

Nothing is a sure thing in a Motogp race.
I do hope the Casey wins and nobody falls or gets injured.
Also would be good if Vermeulen and Hayden can takes some points from
Rossi as I'm sure JB and Yamaha will be working hard over the break to get closer to Ducati/Stoner.
By the way where has Gina gone? Maybe the "moons and planets are not
aligned?".

To talk about a winning margin is premature as anything can happen in a race. I am sure CS is happy to see VR qualify second as it pushes NH back a little on the grid.

The factory Hondas are probably the best off the line at the moment and passing around this circuit will be very difficult.

VR will have to make an uncharacteristically good start to be a chance here. If CS is not the first into the first turn we may have a race on our hands.

Still think that Hayden will be limited by his tyres if it doesn't get hot tomorrow. I honestly can't see Casey losing this one no matter what the temperature/weather/whatever, he's just on fire and riding brilliantly.

If it is hotter, we'll see a great fight for 2nd onwards, otherwise I'll just be hoping we have some good fights to watch. The Bstone riders trying to get past Hayden and JT might be fun to watch

Oh and my bet? He'll be 12 seconds ahead at one point and back off to finish 7 ahead

EDIT post race: Oh man was I waaaay off!

You have to feel for the Michelin riders, they got royaly scr*wed this weekend. What happened to that company? For sure Rossi made the right decision in switching.

From my name, it is obvious who I think will lift it. But I am equally a rossi fan and would absolutely love to see him go on and on. For the race, though I think the battle will be for 3rd - between Hayden and Melandri. I put my money on Melandri to make it to the podium and resurrect his season.

"But it's not Stoner's fault that his rivals are so comparatively weak"

Anyone that thinks Stoners competition is weak better look at the grid again. I reckon there are more world champions present than at any other time in the sports history. There are 13 world championships split between the top 4 guys alone and the guy currently leading the championship has 7 all by himself!!!!! If this is weak competition I must be watching the wrong sport

Why can't some people read?

He is not saying the riders are weak. He is say that, at the moment, in comparission to Stoner/Ducati (thats right see that would comparatively) they are pretty weak. And he's right. At the moment Stoner is totally and utterly dominating in about every way possible. Compared to Stoner, the competition is weak at the moment.
