Valentino Rossi has scored one of his greatest MotoGP victories after a stunning bar-to-bar battle with Casey Stoner during Sunday's US Grand Prix, which ended in favour of the Italian when Stoner dropped his Ducati with eight laps to go.
That was unbelievable, Rossi for me is the best ever bike racer, it's only a matter of time before he surpasses Agostini on results but in stature he is already the best ever!

Fantastic Rossi, the best rider of all times! How he drove Stoner mad was a masterful lesson of tactics! Stoner was at least half a second a lap faster if needed, but he was (i)surprise by Rossi's pace, below 1'22", and (ii) shocked by Rossi's aggressive moves to stay ahead at all costs... Stoner finally outbraked himself at turn one, clocked the lap record to get back on Rossi's heels, but screwed up again under braking at turn 11, for good this time. All this was the result of Rossi's inch perfect riding. Hats off Doctor, very very impressive race indeed...

On a day when we've had an F1 GP and a Moto GP, once again two wheels shows four wheels the way that motorsport should be, for pure racing it just has to be two wheels, take alook at the WSBK and BSB events which also happened today, they've all been awesome.
Formula One and four wheeled motorsport isn't a patch on two wheels, it's pure racing and an awesome spectacle, F1 is boring and hardly ever sees any real racing on the track and when it happens (an overtaking manouvre) they all break out in applause.
As for Valentino Rossi, he is without doubt the best that has ever been, he is Agostini, Senna, Schumacher, Hailwood, Sheene and Moss all rolled up into one, he is the best ever!

If you want to see MOANERS Interview on BBC where he refuses to shake Rossi's hand and whine about the race, the link is about. There are no spaces between the dot's and the forward slashes in the url

Switching to BBC during the breaks I couldn't believe how awful their commentary was, you'd think they were reporting on a dog show not one of the best races for ye**** Is this what we have to look forward to next season? They've got to press gang Ryder and Moody for the job!!!!!
stoner is pathetic...was that a break check...who knows...no respect at all, and now i know i was right not to be a big fan of this lad..
yes it was heated and unless he comes out and makes an apology for acting like a child and his comments in the interview, i doubt he'll have many fans at all...apart from the little groupies who'll stick by his side..
rossi has made a miracle today, everyone was wondering how much stoner wud win by, and if rossi could come 2nd or not...well even i got proved wrong cos i didnt think rossi had it in him, but what a nice surprise..
as for stoner's comments about being in the dirt..u got urself in there lad...chin up =]
This was posted on superbikeplanet.com by the editor and writer:
Stoner said after the race that he wasn't happy about two or three of the passes that Rossi made on him, that they were too close and dangerous. But as a former dirt tracker himself, Stoner knows that's part of the way a slower bike beats a faster bike on a short track.

Stunning, stunning, stunning.... I thought my heart was going to rupture watching those two.. Casey's post race tantrum was predictably dissapointing.
Mr Rossi. I salute you.

Take nothing away from Rossi I can see Stoner point that some of the moves were hard but that the way racing goes sometimes and I think that Rossi had to do that so Stoner would not get away but least it was not a boring race for a charge but at least Stoner had the ball to admit the crash was his mistake cos some riders would have said something diffrent lets hope the rest of the season is as good as this race and Pedrosa will be back so it looking good
To watch the video of Stoner refusing to shake Rossi's hand:
1) Search 'BBC NEWS UK' in your search engine. 2) Choose Sport on the left hand tab (middle of screen) under the heading 'related'. 3) Choose Motorsport 4) Click the video link 'Fuming Stoner accuses Rossi' or choose Motorbikes.
Watch the video - and enjoy!

@ Roy Glasspool
You're right on that one! Toby,Julian and Randy demonstrated the level of on track excitement brilliantly.
I really am fearing BBC's 'sunday bowls' coverage...

come on lads, post up about another boring race. (sarcasm beaches) Post up about how Stoner's bike does it all - doesn't even stall. (more sarcasm for the other beaches)
Rossi passed the dirt tracker on the dirt. Stoner fan boys need to give VR some props. There was no dirty passing when Stoner ran off in the marbles.
Dovi may stick with JIR if that's all Repsol-HRC can do for the #2 rider.
JL must have worn a cape too many times in the under classes as he keeps trying to fly... chill on the cold tyres dude.
Where was Tech 3

Valentino Rossi Racewinner
'For me it has been fantastic. It´s the first time that I´ve been able to win here, and it was an unbelievable race. The crew made some modifications and I was able to take a much better pace. I had a good start, then a great battle with Casey, which was a lot of fun. It´s an important victory very emotional- and now in the summer break we will relax, because the championship is so long.´
'The mistake I made past halfway was mine: I ran a little wide and lost the front on the turn as I tried to get back on track. It was race over after that. I enjoyed a lot of the race, but I felt that some of the passes a bit too much for me. I´ve been racing for a lot of years and have come through a lot of different ranks, and for me just a couple of passes were a little too much. I would have liked to have had a little bit of a cleaner battle, but anyway we are happy with the result. We´re still at the front of the championship and not too far off.´
