Vermeulen savours podium repeat.

Rizla Suzuki's Chris Vermeulen did his harms of remaining a MotoGP rider next season no harm at all by claiming his second podium in as many starts, at Laguna Seca on Sunday.

"I was hoping to run with the front two today..." no offence to chris but VR and CS were in a league of their own he was never going to keep up. Lets not forget CS fell off and still came in 2nd without having to regain any places! Still it would be good if he is up there in the remaining races... anoth rider, another manufacturer. The more the merrier.

Agree Paul - they were in another race!! Wonder if Ducati are interested in CV for next year?? He's not a fragile little petal like Marco, younger than Sete, capable, determined and consistently fast. Hmmmm .. two Aussies in an Italian team. How does "mate" sound with an italian accent??

Paul you are causing offence by only revealing half of what Chris said, Chris Vermeulan admitted that Rossi and Stoner were a class above during the BBC interview in parc ferme.

Okay, let's re-think this:

Sachensring podium: Chris the V is a WET WEATHER SPECIALIST. His B'stone tires were THE SUPERIOR CHOICE IN THE WET.

Laguna Seca Podium: Chris the V is a LAGUNA SECA SPECIALIST. His B'stone tires were FAR SUPERIOR rubber over the competition.

These podiums mean nothing to me in regards to Suzuki making headway with the GSVR, I write it off to merely GOOD/GREAT RIDING and GREAT TIRE TECHNOLOGY.

Hope to see him at Repsol Honda next year. He is a great rider and can be the next WC with the right team.

Great result I'd love to see him on a better bike, I just don't see that much improvement in the Suzuki.

He is one of about five very talented riders that look like they could go to the next level but it's a huge step that requires consistancy if they what to challenge Rossi, Stoner and Pedrosa.

Great ride.

It is quite strange that the Verm has to fight for his career:

1. He has better career stats than Colin Edwards in podiums and average points per race.
2. He is ahead of a motogp world champion (Nicky Hayden) for the second year running
3. He does well anytime his bike is near competitive wet or dry

Maybe Suzuki should do him a favour a let him go.

regards
Garry

CV to Repsol?? He will have the same problem as Hayden. Tech3 could get him for less then Edwards and get much more back. Merely good riding is what everybody but Rossi, Casey and DP are showing, in perspective to these 3. Just look at CS and VR speed..... Rossi, CS and DP should get weight penalty (DP for sure ) to even MotoGP up a bit....

Excellent race from Chris... he's smooth and fast, definately has the skills... and a good personality to boot!

But....

If he's waiting for the Suzy to become a real competitor he'll be waiting a while....
he needs a better ride if he ever wants to be Champ.

190mph - fair one, wasnt intending to insult CV it just hits home how fast the other 2 were going! plus the peopel on here are capable of reading the article, and i would hope they have done before commenting! , so they will know the line i am referring to...

so not to cause upset here is the rest of the quote "...I got held up a bit at the start and lost some time. After I had got through they were a long way ahead and I ended up having quite a lonely ride - it was tough to keep my concentration at times as there was nothing to focus on other than count down the laps,"
