Pedrosa to try pneumatic at Brno test.

Pedrosa to try pneumatic at Brno test.

The Repsol Honda Team has told Crash.net that injured world championship contender Dani Pedrosa will try the pneumatic-valve RC212V during post race testing at Brno, on August 18-19.

Given the uneven performance of HRC engines, and the very poor showing of Honda in F-1, one might suppose that Honda has cut back its racing budget and is substituting PR for actual progress. All the other manufactures have made the switch without fanfare. they might do better getting on Michelin's case to provide better tires than fussing over valve actuation.

Pneumatic is clearly the way to go, wise decision to test it, I hope it can help Pedrosa to get some good points in the second half of the season. We need him in the title race.

Go Dani!

Get well soon Dani, and with the new mighty pneumatic Honda, BEAT THE BRAT! I believe you can!

With only seven races to go and 41 points behind Dani should use the pneumatic at Brno, he has nothing to loose!

Get well soon, we need Three at the top

They definitely need power for a track like BRNO so all the extra speed you can get is useful there.. And Nicky proved that the honda finally can achieve the distance..

Why not try the engine in practice? But there doesn't seem to be any great power increase. But Dani gets the star treatment. Nicky should be glad if Divo takes his seat and Divo's performance Sunday should have sealed that.

One might suppose that and one would be wrong. Honda is not infallible or invincible. They too can make mistakes, not to mention that when you're competing with the best in the world, occasionally you are going to get beat.

The mgmt people at HRC who decided to stick with spring valves are gone and Honda is just still paying the price for being late to switch. Furthermore, Honda elected not to contract a supplier for the pneumatic valve engine the way Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha did, they're making their own. Reason being is that they want to take a step forward over the rest.

I agree with Edward...it doesn't matter how fast the bike is, if it doesn't grip the road he will struggle. HRC to Bridgestone next year?

The Forgotten Man.

Dani had a great chance to win his first MotoGP title. Now it seems his hopes have all gone. I wonder if he will ever win a MotoGP title?
I agree, If Michelin dont improve over the rest of the season, you would have to think he would want to switch to Bridgestones.

I'm sure Dani is just being cautious but I'd consider using the pneumatic engine bike for the next race not after it. Hopefully, Michelin will get their tires right for the following races. The more up front the better. It would also be nice for Pedrosa and Lorenzo to stop crashing and finish the races. Having them fighting with Rossi and Stoner for the win will only make it more interesting. But of course as a Rossi fan I want him to win.

Kees, yes Brno demands power, specially from the lowest point up the hill. But, with stronger engine we might risk DP will fly to the moon!!!
Looking at the WSBK races there where Suzuki (usually strong there) struggles while Ducati did good (used to be Ducati's weak track), the asphalt there is new, will be interesting to see how that affect the Bridgstone-Michelin situation.

pedro will take the new engine...and hayden wont be near him..

but i dont think pedro will be anywhere near the ducati...and if yamaha don't sort things out neither will they, cos i bet ducati come back with something new after the 4 weeks or have something new to test at brno..

hopefully things will sort themselves out and every race will be like laguna..

lets wait n see

Pedrosa should have tried the new engine, when Nicky tried it. Nicky suffered
all the mechanical problems, and Pedrosa hasn't helped him at all, they haven't worked as a team anymore in my opinion.
finally Nicky is improving with the new bike. Now Pedrosa will try the new engine and then will take all the credit of Nicky's job. I hope Honda and Pedrosa thank Nicky for all the hard work that Nicky has done.

You're a good rider Nicky, no matter what they say.."you are the bomb."

Considering that NH doesn't have a chance to win the title I would imagine that Repsol would use him a guinea pig. But I will have to agree that Repsol hasn't worked as a team for years and NH is a overpaid test rider for Pedrobot. Honda has put all their faith in him and none in NH. Now that the PV engine has had a few GP's I am sure Honda feels safe in giving it to Pedrobot since NH has done all the suffering testing(Assen 2008).

Repsol is now the Pedrobot team.

So Good luck to the angry smurf with the PV engine and NH will see u next year at Ducati.

Maybe Ducati will treat him with some respect.

Here and interesting question to all you arm chair critics.

Its obvious that Pedrobot and Puige only care about themselves so how do u think Pedrobot and Dovi are going to get along next year? Both seem to be pretty arrogant, & conceited guys Dovi has more personality and Dan has the personality of a brick.

How long will it be before Pedrobots pit bull manager Puige starts talking trash and taking shots a Dovi like he did NH? How long will it take for Dovi to punch Pedrobot's light out?

Or do u think they will be bosom buddies like Colin and Vale.....(NOT!!!)

inquiring minds want to know.

Depends...if Divo knows his place and finishes respectively behind the Pedrobot, all will be well. If Dive starts outperforming said Pedrobot, and I think he just might do that, then look for sabatoge and dirty tricks aplenty. What fun!

Perobot is the next Biaggi when it comes to team mates - hate them all! He slammed Nicky earlier in the year about his development skills but how much has he helped development? The Honda has developed slower than the Yamaha and Ducati. Being a factory rider for the last 2 years some of that blame is on him. It will be interesting to see how he works with a new team mate. His manager will drive a wedge between the garage for sure.

DP is mega competitive but he is well mannered to everyone apart from team mates and Lorenzo. He and Lorenzo have history. Honda's faith in Pedrosa looks well placed if you look at GP results. He lacks in the braking and dicing departments but apart from that he's probably the best rider in the world and his 125 and 250 results show that. His consistency is amazing even including his recent off. At Germany he was trying to do to Stoner what Vale did at Laguna- necessary for the championship- but he failed. You can't fault his tactics especially if you compare his lap times with Stoners later lap times. He is not so media friendly as Vale but at least he doesn't stick his foot in his mouth.

Oh, is that all? I have watched Rossi time and time agin, out brake an opponent from high speed. Pedrobot, will never equal Rossi in this regard.
