Lorenzo immobilised for ten days.

MotoGP rookie Jorge Lorenzo will be wearing a cast on his left foot for the next ten days in order to recover from the clean fractures he sustained to his third, fourth and fifth metatarsal in the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.

Get well soon George.

It seems like a long time ago that he was stunning us all with his speed and racing skills. I hope he gets his confidence back.

About drug testing and motogp riders. It would be
interesting to compare what drugs a damaged motogp rider is allowed to take compared
to your average professional athlete/sportsperson. Haga almost got in trouble quite a few years ago, but he was recovering from injury and the topic kind of died: with the injuries brave JL has sustained, to come back time after time so quickly,
maybe he should just take it easy and not race for a while and get healed up
naturally. In the longer term it would be better for his team also, as well as JL.
That highside at Laguna was nasty to watch for sure, I feel bad for him....fantastic talent so don't waste it, or him, Yamaha,

kind regards

ricky

I feel sorry for him being hurt like this, the guy is definitely brave and I hope he can return to good health by next season and challenge for the top. He proved his potential at the start of the season but these huge crashes have taken their toll now.

lorenzo showed a lot of form at the start of the season and was able to match rossi. now that rossi has come to terms with the bridgestones, is it possible that lorenzo is pushing too hard so as to be as fast as rossi is now, and the michelins just cannot cope?

R Rickster,
the talented rider ant gobart lost his ride coz he had a toke on a spliff,
really don't know if there is any drugs in our sport now, maybe the draconian
method used on gobart should be dealt out to le pedalists de la tour de france.

Get well soon but take it easy. No need to fight the Championship. Heal. You are not on Bridgestones. You are on Michelins.

I thought wheel spin was something from the past according to all the experts here????

Time to re-evaluate your attitude Jorge.....if you want to keep riding GP bikes that is!

Lorenzo is a future champ as long as he keeps healthy! he has taken a huge battering this year but is a phenominal rider and will be back strogner and faster!

Haga was also docked points for taking a herbal medicine to aid him in weight loss. Effectively this is why he lost the title to Edwards. I dont see a problem with them taking pain killer drugs if it gets them on the bike. Maybe they have to provide a list of what they have taken/are taking during injury periods? Lets face it, they wont make them ride any faster the only thing it could help them with is endurane over race distance but the amount they ride they are all capable of that anyway!

Yeah it's a shame Lorenzo's not competing for the title, makes it less exciting when we're two Spaniards down, imagine how cool it would have been if they had been in the mix as well as Rossi and Stoner at Laguna.
About drug testing- it doesn't really matter in motorcycle racing except for safety- what could you take that would make you ride better? ~Most drugs would make you ride worse, not like in cycling. The rules about doping are on the FIM website.

I was thinking of human growth hormones, steroids etc: they would help you heal faster
and maybe also help with physical strength. Most sports people don't have the kind of traumatic injuries bike racers can experience, and people who in normal life who have a bad accident will often be treated with such drugs these days, so I was wondering where
the line is drawn in motogp.......

kind regards

ricky

While i don't totally agree with ACE27 comments i do see the point he/she is making.

It's easy for everyone to disagree and say the comments rubbish.

The part I don't agree on is that he needs to re-evaluate his motogp career...but i do think (which he seems he was doin) needs to re-evaluate just how much you can push the limits on a bike not set up perfectly.

I guess it's not in a racers mentality to settle for anythin but wins but if he keeps jumping off and suffering with injuries it the team will have to draw the line due to so many riders wanting a factory ride.

Well its not quite panned out as well as Lorenzo had hoped this year has it. He will bounce back (no pun intended). He definately has the speed and the talent, this he has already demonstrated, but he needs to gain the racing wisdom that can only come with experience. He will get there if he can stop injuring himself.
In the meantime he appears to be the only Moto GP rider on the grid who qualifies for air miles this year!
Get well soon Jorge!

I agree with ACE27. He is well prepared 250cc rider, but wrong attitude for MotoGP. Lorenzo always put himself in desperate mode and make right move at the wrong place.

Kind of the same to Stoner when he surprised Rossi was able to hold his outbreaking line at Laguna. The different is Stoner wait long enough before he put himself in desperate mode. Yet, it still not long enough until a few laps before the end. Similar to Rossi in 2007.

On the other hand, Lorenza has better bike that he can use about half race distance before make risky move at the right place.
