The provisional calendar for the 2009 MotoGP has been revealed with a few minor changes, the most significant being that China has been dropped in favour of new race in Hungary.
Just wish they would bring back Turkey. Great, great track.

It should read April 26th Japan, Motegi, not the 16th.

The riders are not going to like the extended calendar for sure, but as a fan it couldn't be better. I didn't mind China, it always proved to be an interesting race.
Dissapointing they only race 18 GPs a year, they test on intervening weekends anyway, why not all do it together and call it a GP? Then we would get to watch and enjoy it too! This 'mid-season break' is a travesty, why do they do it? Just as the season builds momentum and is drawing millions of fans, they stop racing??? I'd be happy to host motoGP down-under at Phillip Island one weekend, and Eastern Creek the next, since they come all this way anyway... Why have to choose between Donington and Silverstone? - lets have both!

The Hungary track will suit Yamaha and Rossi

I admire your ability to read the future Saltbush, considering the Balatonring has not yet been constructed!

Zack:Every track suits Yamaha and Rossi whether it is built or not, there is not a track he hasn't won on,why should the new track be any different

Uhh yeah there is Saltbush. Turkey comes to mind Also Misano. And Laguna was until he won last weekend.

And Zack, somewhere my dad found a pic of the layout of the Balatonring and it looks like a track best suited to agility rather than top speed. Yamaha would be better than Ducati me thinks but the way Stoner is riding as of late (ignoring Laguna) who knows who will reign victorious. Perhaps though, the circuit should get built before speculation commences. And wouldnt they run a test day there like they did at Misano last year? Or am i thinking WSBK?

For the start of the season I would like a track with a lot of crowd and a lot of noise. It should be a fest! But then again I guess Qatar is good for avoiding the spring rainfall...
OK - why drop china (not that I will miss it much) when there are still THREE spanish rounds on the calendar? I thought Dorna wanted to reach a wider global audience?

Wish they could change the Assen Race to Sunday. Just a small little hitch in my Body clock. Maybe they should exchange with Laguna Seca. That way we can watch Assen on Sunday and LagunaSeca on Sunday too instead of the Wee hours of Monday morning 5 am.

Saran: The Dutch TT has always been held on a Saturday for historical (religious?) reasons, it's not a MotoGP decision that one race should be on a different day

No way Saran it is a traditon way back in time they are not going to change that easily..
