Stoner stoned in Brno.

Stoner stoned in Brno.

Casey Stoner's hopes of salvaging something from his Czech Republic Grand Prix weekend was ruined by a ‘perfectly shaped' gravel stone that got caught in his Ducati's carboration.

"...it is my only crash with a Ducati in a race..."

Did he crash so hard that he lost some memory and forgot about Laguna?

"We made a big change which would have taken away the element of what caused the crash in the race."

That'll be Rossi then

In fairness he was lucky the bike was still running (in Laguna also). I don't know if the rules are the same in MotoGP but in WSBK if the bike falls on it's side it is supposed to stop automatically for safety reasons (mind you the Ducati seems to bypass this rule in WSBK so maybe they have the same luxury in MotoGP also).

A few people have mentioned the cut out rule which I also believe exists in WSBK can anybody shed any light on it??

Papa -- Love the Rossi element

His only DNF crash since being with Ducati, in fairness in Laguna he made a mistake under brakes and ran wide and only fell off because he lost his footing in the deep stuff - due to being a short****.
As far as the stone in the carboration, it wouldn't have happened if he wasn't playing in the kitty litter.

Agreed Stitcho, I think he means his only DNF during a race... hes made a couple of mistakes like Laguna, and running off at Jerez but this is his only real crash. Hell of a turn around in form from 2006. I dont think it was a case of him being 'that unlucky'... your make your own luck. Keep it out the gravel and away from that 'perfect' stone and wont have these problems! Same goes for any rider so not a dig at Stoner, brakes failing at the end of the straight is unlucky, throwing your bike into the gravel and it not working afterwards is not unlucky, its more probable!

I too believe there is a rule on safety cut-out,I'm at work and did a quick search for the regs but couldn't find anything. I thought it was standard practice across the board, from the FIM?

Maybe The Ducati boys should go back to the kitty litter and search for a perfect mouth shaped stone for Casey

the reigning champion told MotoGP.com. "You could search all the gravel traps in the world and you wouldn´t find one like it. We were just that unlucky."

Yeah, really unlucky. Don't you just hate it when you bin it and can't get back on and finish 2nd. If anything he is very lucky - a. because he didn't get hurt and b. his bike kept running at Laguna.

Bad luck? Er, I don't think so.

Yep agree Rico he also had a massive 120mph crash in practice at Saxon and walked away unharmed he's been the luckiest racer in contention this year. Danis high speed off cost him at least 2 competitive results...

Its always somebody or something elses fault, never Stoners fault, must be great to be such a fantasticly gifted **** as him! perfect stone in the carb.! what a load of tosh! as i saw it he fell off! why cant he admit it was his fault, if it was a stone in the works it was him that whent hunting for it like a pig at a truffle! & as for getting it running & taking second? I didn't see him make much uffert or had the radio controller in the pits broke too. he realy dosent think much of the other riders does he! I think there are alot of riders thinking he is a right pain in the ****, & he is the one saying he has lost respect for Rossi! start earning some respect Stoner!

I particularly like the comment about the pegs decking out. I distinctly remember the BBc reporter asking Casey if that was what caused the crash only to be told 'no chance of that happening on the Ducati' Now if Casey had been a little quicker in his thinking he should have realised what a golden opportunity he had been handed of an excuse.
As for the stone in the Carburation, what a load of ********.
I am also still laughing at the 'our set up caused me to be leaning over too far' I really think Stoner has a chance at this years London comedy festival.

Reporter : So, why did you crash? Is Valentino Rossi really in your head all about?
Casey Stoner : No no no, I didn't bothered by Valentino Rossi at all. I just don't know, ask those stupid technician of Ducati. They set my bike up and the bike leaning aggresively.

-Reporter : Why didn't you get up and continue to race?
Casey Stoner : That was what I intend to do. But look! (Casey Stoner bring a gravel stone from Brno) You could search all the gravel traps in the world and you wouldn´t find one like it. How can they put this ******* perfectly-sized stone that got stuck in the carboration of my bike? I bet now they happy, because I COULD NOT REJOIN THE RACE, THANKS TO THIS STONE!
