Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, James Toseland and Colin Edwards have all been fined for performing practice starts after the chequered flag at the end of MotoGP qualifying at Misano on Saturday.
well looks like the Yammy's have some last minit upgrades to their traction/Launch control which might come in handy tomorrow. These may have been the Brno upgrades that Rossi was smiling about. This one is Rossi's for the picking if Simoncelli doesn't beat him to it. And in MotoGp if they could sandwich Rossi and Stoner 5th making it a Yamaha 1,2,3,4 maybe the championship will be over soon.

You only get fined for kicking out ot Rossi. Pull you head in knob.
Hmm, most interesting and baffling that ALL the Yamahoolie riders were involved in this . . . Wht inevitability do they fear and what strategy will they try to effect !!? Stoner will need to make the start of his LIFE to get clear of the chaos that turn 1 will surely bring !!!

They should be relegated to the back of the grid. Simple as that. Yamaha caught cheating under direction of team to help darling Valentino. Disgusting!
Looks like somebody at Yamaha didn't read the fine print... I can't help but wonder why this rule is in place for the MGP class, it's not like they could be holding up another class' practice. It's also a lot safer than doing practice starts during a practice session where you could become a hazard to other riders. Excuse my ignorance - but how & when are they supposed to practice getting off the line
Getting off the line - that makes me remember Norick Abe, the late master of starts...

DEM,
250cc qualifying was on after MotoGP but I still agree with you. What's the holdup!

Nothing quite like micromanaging a series, is there? Sounds like the sort of crap F1 would pull.

What a joke. They know the rules and everybody else didnt choose to break them. A $1000 fine has made it a worthwhile exercise. This will rightly upset the other teams and riders who chose not to break the rule. At the next MotoGP I would be practicing my starts if I knew I was only going to get a $1000 fine(which the teams would pick up the tab for) A deterrent is needed, especially as this would appear to be a premeditated decision by Yamaha to get their riders to break the rule. I would give them all a 10 place penalty on the grid.

What's going on? At every GP this season at the end of qualifying I've seen riders practicing their starts - what makes this one different to the rest?!?!?!
Also, why was Stoner shaking his head at Melandri quarter of the way through the session when he had to overtake during a quick lap? Doesn't he realise that in qualifying there is more than one rider on track? He wasn't on qualifying tyres so what was the problem exactly?

Haha, maybe he was just feeling sorry for Melandri, thinking of that lump of coal Melandri is going to get for christmas (ie the Kawasaki).

Apparently they changed the rules in july. I don't know why, but agree that it is micro managing. It's the kind of stuff Ferrari are always trying to do to gain advantage. Changing little rules that don't really affect them. Most teams don't perfect setup till qualifying so what's the point in testing starts with the wrong setup..... very F1

Donnie, although Grim is making light of it, it is highly likely that Stoner is acknowledging Marcos futile efforts to make progress and showing a gesture of sympathy. Don't be a knob like others that post here and automatically assume he is being petulant. Although it appears true Marco obviously couldn't drive a greasy stick up a dogs ar5e and is being paid twice Buckys salary, so you might be forgiven for thinking there may be some resentment there. Cheers. PS. it is a pox rule, but a $1000 fine....what a joke. A ten position penalty would pull the cheats into line.
If it licks it's b4lls and ****s it's leg to p7ss on a lamp post then it's probably a dog...... gesture of sympathy....my 4rse....
Hoping your title contenders rival will be taken out for you to give CS a sporting chance pretty much sums up Stoners fans along with their vitriol...

Sorry Daytime, I've missed your point about taking out the rival? BTW the head shake is a common aussie gesture for those less fortunate, often supported with the words..."you poor, hopeless ****". Honest, it's true.
