Reigning MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner may have crashed out of the last two races, effectively ending his 2008 title hopes, but the Ducati Marlboro rider believes points lost during the early part of the season were just as costly.
Just before laguna, he was 20 points behind... that's not GONE! he would be the leader of the championship when rossi woul've made a similar mistake to his own at laguna.. at the corkscrew, rossi was very close.
Casey is just trying to protect himself as a person, and blaming it on the bike not working well in the beginning. For sure he had some bad luck but he put the bike in the bin, 3 times in a row.
I know losing is hard, but for god sake.. do it with dignity! the guy's been racing whole his live for cryin out loud!
Anybody with eyes could have seen that Duc got the equation wrong in the early part of the season and had to go back to the 07 spec.. look at the results for the rest of the Duc riders, for god's sake. Stoner nearly lapped Melandri at Donington, had a mechanical failure at Le Mans and had to get on the second bike to complete the race. At least he's kept on fighting, unlike Pedrosa, and he isn't exactly the only person who's has a crash this year, the guy is saying he's not blaming anybody and stating he knows he's still learning. Some of you people would diss Mother Theresa if she had beaten Rossi. And he's binned it twice, he and Rossi are equal for falls and restarts.
Thats not what he said when Jorge Lorenzo won the Estoril. This is what he said. "Stoner: Points not important - yet." So he thought DP and JL are not a real threat. Well my Dani is going to steal his 2nd spot just like last year when my Dani stole the 2nd spot from Rossi when he was not looking.
If someone could just tell him that being 2nd sometimes does not hurt instead of pushing the gravel. The last 2 races if he had held it he would have at least a 40 point gap with DP and still be at striking distance of VR.
At least the Red Cool aid gang has lost their will to post again. hahahaha

Give it a ****in rest Rossi Fumi. I think by now we all know that you Rossi fanboys are as bias as all hell, and are just itching for the slightest opening to have a go at Casey because your sad sacks with nothing else to do in your life than see who can jam their tongues up Rossi's a-hole the furthest.
WE GET IT!!!!!!
You and your sheep buddies should do us all a favour and make some room for those of us with free thought
I dont really care about the WC. It's not like I get to take the trophy home. I just hope this indy race is a corker!

Stoner is just pathetic. Foul mouthed to the end. Never ever has anything good to say. His attitude needs an adjustment. He is never positive ... that's why he sounds like a jerk all the time. I feel sorry for his family when he retires: he's gonna take out his anger and frustation on them for sure. Sad kid.
At least Pedrosa is quiet and nice.

The stupid thing about the Rossi fanboys is that Rossi doesn't want this sort of hatred crap going down about other riders, he wants to win against the best possible competition. When he dropped it Stoner said 'I'm sorry for Valentino, I don't want to get points back like that': when Stoner has dropped it, Rossi was equally gracious. Rabid Stoner fanboys are just as bad. Seems to me if you have to have your hero's name/number as your alter ego you are already a bit of a loser and obviously the Rossi rod-walloping people feel seriously threatened by Stoner. Get a grip on the sport, not yourselves, and enjoy the fact that Rossi has to ride like magic because Stoner has pushed him so hard.

After winning the Championship last year Casey Stoner was thinking he's gonna sweep all the Championship the next 5 years continously and teach Valentino Rossi on how to ride a Bike. Get Real Son. Leran from the real Champ. Count yourself lucky last year. Lucky if you can keep your 2nd spot this year. Hope Dani Pedrosa will whoop his as s just like the 250cc championship and Jorge will be in the mix. More likely that he will tone down his arrogancy and just settle for 2nd otherwise if he drops again he will be another Sete Giveupnow, Max biaggi. And maybe Ducati will drop him eventually

Farnukle - well said! Rossi has had to push himself much harder thanks mainly to Stoner. Before Laguna Seca, when Vale was asked what he needed to do tobeat Casey, he asked for a 30-second headstart. THe Rossi fanboys have to go a long way to match the graciousness and good humour of their hero. Rossi is I think the better racer - the operative word being 'racer'. When it comes to nnot simply riding faster, but thinking better. BOth of them are terrific - we're are only in for a great spectacle in 2009. I think Stoner will learn more and get better at his racecraft.

Right on Desmo, should be very close next year. I'm not a Stoner fan, but it's got to the point where everyone jumps all over him no matter what he says. I realise he has bought a lot of it on himself, but give the guy a break, he just said it how it was. My hope is for Rossi and Stoner to be on equal machinery next year, so they can slug it out to the line every race. Like Catalunya last year..

RXRacer you hit it on the head!
These people that get so bitter and twisted should take a step back and ask themselves if they watch the racing because they like bikes and motorsport? I think they have forgotten that.

"Crash and burn" thats exactly what I mean, people like you with idiotic comments ruin this forum.
They are all awesome riders, ok some lack personality but I dont really care so long as they impress on the track.
I thought I was a good rider until doing a track day with some proffesional racers - they are incredibly fast and talented - sit back and enjoy the show and leave the venom out of it.

Yeah Dan you thought you were a good rider. You SBK guys always wear a shoe size too big. Quit blowing Sunshine up your own A SS will you.

I dont know, I have quite small shoes and find anything bigger than my size too uncomfortable.
I dont ride a superbike either, but thats neither here nor there.
As a kiwi I also dont have any rider to support and prefer it that way.

Crash.net has been overtaken by Stoner fans. (I didn't know they had the Internet yet in Australia).
Solar powered maybe, or ethanol driven off a generator?

Grumpy Doctor just goes to show how much knowledge you do have then doesnt it
We are not all Stoner Fans as such, we are fans of racing and the kid constanly gets **** thrown at him on this forum. His personality may be lacking a bit. But its not a personality contest last time i checked. The bloke is just turned 22, has spent his whole life around a racing track. He will get better in that regard as the years roll along. For now I think he gets every last little thing out of that Ducati and for that he should be admired, lets hope he can keep it on two wheels this week.

Stoner puts things perfectly in perspective, in a pretty humble tone might I add, and the Rossisterhood still find a way to spin their negativity into the story. That's the problem with the internet, you end up debating with people who either have the mental age of a 10-year-old or are actually 10 years old. I wish to Jesus Christ that Crash would moderate these forums properly to weed out the pointless hate-fuelled fanworshipping garbage. The situation is not helped by Crash's misleading headline - Stoner actually said that the championship was slipping away, they pulled it back, then lost it again. Anyone can see that he didn't mean that they lost it outright a long time ago.

For gods sake guys stop slagging each other off, a bit of banter yes but bob you need to start writing for a porno or something a lot of pent up frustration there methinks! Stoners biggest year is next year its his chance to prove he can think while riding rather than just get mad. I dont think he will improve his race-craft though after all he's been racing since forever so the clock is ticking. Jorge has a more than fair chance of winning the title next year i think.

Damn, I've got nothing constructive to add myself..... better have another beer and wind up the dynamo before the batteries go flat on my old Dell Quad Core Slate over here in Oz. Back soon!
