Valentino Rossi has taken the first ever MotoGP pole position at Indianapolis - putting an end to Casey Stoner's seven successive pole positions in the process.

It would be such a shame if Spies doesn't get a factory ride next year in MotoGP. When see him race in person you can tell he'ss on a whole different level than everyone else in AMA. You can tell he's ON THE LEVEL. 5th on the grid in his 3rd GP? I hope that opened some eyes in the paddock for his sake.

cyclenews :
History was made today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and fittingly it was the most prolific racer in the history of the series who made that history - Valentino Rossi
The Italian superstar scorched his way around the Indy road course in 1:40.776 on his Fiat Yamaha to earn the first-ever pole position for tomorrow's inaugural race at one of the most famous race places in the world.
Rossi was at or near the top throughout the session and he was there when it mattered the most - right at the end...besting Casey Stoner's best by just .084 of a second. In the process, Rossi snapped Stoner's run of seven straight pole positions

i think that celebration will be funny unlike some cold rider, u know, the one who never satisfied with his position(factory ride, number 1 mich rider(it "was"), number 1 "rider" in his paddock, number 1 treatment from his sponsor, but he got number 2 in his plate )

Great going Vale Hope it stays dry tomorrow.
Spies wants too much money and blew it for next year, last rumor is he will settle for a satellite Honda at JIR Scott.
My rider seems to have misplaced his speed, it was right there in the garage, but may have rolled under the partition into the Michelin side. Would you please check for it with the *other* Repsol team and give it back?
Thanks -Alberto

I have to thank Casey for re-awakening the fire in Rossi. Poor Casey had no idea what he started with his famous words: " thats racing? - we will see!!" Well we see now...

hello puig how are ur rider today? why don't he change his plate number to no 1 and told casey that ur rider is the ruler in this motor sport(-so he deserve anything he wanted, like tyres maybe , no1 status although his dvelopment ability and skill is so-so)
and oh, yeah. u can tell repsol to switch to yamaha for 2009 (like DP did 1 week ago, switch from mich to bridge) i heard that ur rider always moaned about the bike and the tire(like max) how about ur rider switch team with his sponsor(i heard fiat contract will not be renewed for 2009)
so he can prove other people that he is the best rider aka the ruler in this sport that he deserve anything he wanted

Valentino Rossi wanted that pole, he was riding hard and proving a point....He's the master and putting the pressure on Casy and as you can see, Casy is making mistakes with the pressure...The Laguna Sega non handshake from Casy has made Valentino more determined than ever to become 8 times world champion and I'm glad to see....Roll on Rossi fumi.
Yup the CS "we will see" quote sort of bite him in the behind didn't it, well done that man

eeeerm. For those that didn't catch it Eurosport commentators said: the weather forecast is for rain on race day...they don't race in the wet at indi (huh?) so if rain is forecast, and the race meeting has wiggle room on the scedule, MotoGP may be brought forward a few hours to avoid the rain.
