Nicky Hayden joins Ducati.

Just one day after scoring his first podium of the 2008 season, in Sunday's Indianapolis Grand Prix, it has finally been officially announced that 2006 MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden will join Ducati for 2009.

Didn't see that one coming Has anyone else known about this? I thought Nicky loved HRC, after all he won his championship with them? I'm confused.

nicky s not a moaner, but seems his fans are. blaming pedrosa for nicky s lack of wins in 2 straight years is pathetic

we ll see next year, if nicky fails to impress, people will be still blaming dani

Good news indeed for the likeable Hayden! I hope that he is able to get to grips
with the Ducati and return to podium challenging ways next year. It would be nice
to see more guys capable of turning in winning performances and bring a bit of variety
to the podium again. (And I dare say Ducati would love a stronger works team challenge)

I aint no Hayden fan but do think he deserves better than he has been getting at Honda for the last 2 years. I hope the Ducati works for him and look forward to more Ducati's up front.

Good on ya Nicky.

I hope you're being sarcastic Grim, it's one of the worst kept secrets of 2008!

Nicolas, everybody knows that since Dani joined the Repsol Honda squad Alberto Puig has pulled the strings in that garage and as a result Honda haven't done anything to help Nicky, let alone listened to him. I'm not saying this as a Nicky Hayden fan, I'm saying that because they are the facts. You should try it, you'll feel so much better for it!

Nicky seems like a nice likeable guy but I'm not convinced that he'll do well on it. He didn't exactly win his world title by convincing and consistent riding. Let's hope he feels at home on the Ducati and can be up front challenging for the title.

so u ve been in the box with them huh? u think a multimillion company listens to puig, who s not even his employee?

nicky arrived at mgp with 2 ama chships, one on sbk, racing a 1000cc vs a 750cc
dani arrived with 3 straight world titles
took nicky 3 years to get his first win (or 4?)
took dani half a season
2008 - dani in hospital, micky has the whole preseason for him

come first gp dani outraces nicky by 20 secs

seriosuly, stop moaning. nicky couldnt handle the 800c and his progresion has been zero since 06.

While rumors abounded about Nicky's switch, Dennis Noyes flat out stated it was a done deal several weeks ago in his Speed Channel column. If it is a good match, Nicky should return regularly to the pointy end of the field and the Ducks bigist market will get a boost in sales. If not, it will begin the downward spiral of Nicky's career with Spies stepping up to take his place if he gets a good bike for his first chance. But it doesn't seem to be a sure thing now. I think he would have helped Suzuki but belief in the has beens dies hard.

Have to agree with you ramjam69, Honda have done nothing to help Nicky. At the end of the day he bought the 2006 championship back to Honda, what did they do in return? Build a bike around his team mate and switch tyres without even consulting him.

I don't know it anybody as read the interview on motogp.com with him, but he evens says that 'if i did'nt turn up (at honda) I don't think anybody would notice' - Says it all really!

Like ramjam69 i'm not saying this as a Nicky Hayden fan, Honda have treated him disgracefully these last couple of years - So well done Nicky on your second place yesterday (**** You Pedrosa) and congratulations on your move to Ducati.

Nicolas

Why spend so much time trying o discredit Hayden? He would have won convincingly if not for Pedrosa taking him out of the title lead. Did you forget that?

And if you think that Pedrobot and Puig aren't pulling the strings than you don't know much about MotoGP or haven't been paying close attention.

And no matter what you think of him, Val and Casey are the only others on the grid with a MotoGP title. You can't say the same for Pedrobot.

REPSOL is the 1 that dictated most of the policies there, they screwed Hayden. The more I see Dani and the way he interacts I think if he could get away from all the the BS pushers (Puig Repsol) he would be a lot different.

Dani might be the golden boy for the minute but he hasn't exactly set the world alight, granted he finished second last season but how many points difference?Dani may have won more races but he hasn't won more championships and if the rumours are true he only has next year to do it

ok, i definitely think you re fanboys now. who s discrediting NH? i like Nicky, rooted for him in cheste in 06, and celebrated his title. i still have his 2002 ama sbk champ t shirt.

but it s fact that Nicky has done zero this year and last year. That s got nothing to do with pedrosa. he demanded the pneu bike, he got it. he injured himself stupidly at the x games.

moto gp has grown since 06.pedrosa got better, lorenzo and dovi came in, stoner went to ducati, and rossi is not riding a tricyycle like he did in 06. that s why nicky on a bad day now comes 8th, whereas in 06 he d do a 3rd or 4th.
but you can keeep blaming pedrosa ... moaners

Pedrosa acts like a moody pre-pubescent child.

Nicky will have a better time on the Ducati, however i doubt he'll be winning races. Good luck to him tho! Would love to see him stick it to Honda & Pedrosa next year.
