Having slumped to just 15th fastest on Friday, Jorge Lorenzo was on superb form at Motegi on Saturday, when he took a shock pole position on his MotoGP debut at Yamaha's home event.
Let's hope michelin can cary qualifying form into the race. I think it's a bad idea to go one tyre rule at the top level of prototype motorcycle racing.
I think it is inevitable, Lorenzo is the only one (apart from Hayden at the moment) to make the Michelins work, that's not enough for them to continue.
There are howver some weird ruous that Ducati and even Kawasaki might switch to Michelins, keeping the tyre war going, that would be an interesting development
I really like Lorenzo. Great rider, good guy, not a whiner like Stoner and Pedrobot. He is the heir apparent to Rossi, IMO.

After watching sbk goto a single make my conclusion is a single tyre rule would be good. Motogp only has to look to wsbk to see how close the racing can be week in week out not just once in a blue moon.

Ducati have said they will use Michelins on all 5 machines next year. They probably know Rossi is the golden boy now. They have a better chance as no 1 at Michelin than as no 2 at Bridgestone.

copy and past for the mentioning of the crazy tyre rumours.
Jorge Lorenzo is Awesome. There is a very good possibility for him to be 2nd in the Championship too if either CS or DP make a mistake. Yes Heir apparent to Valentino Rossi. Its either him or Marco Simoncelli.
Goooooooo Laorenzo

They talked on Eurosport during Motogp qualifying about Ducati and Michelin, saying that Ducati have said about running the 3 satellite bikes on Michelin, possibly even all 5 of their bikes. There needs to be at least 8 bikes running one or other make of tyre apparently. Not sure how that figured with Dunlop last season though...
One offhand quote from Ducati's Suppo (from a while ago I think) was not to run the same make of tyre as Rossi, as they wouldn't stand a chance.
