Rossi reflects on sixth MotoGP title glory.

Rossi reflects on MotoGP title glory.

Valentino Rossi became only the second rider in history to regain the MotoGP World Championship after two successive defeats, when he won his sixth premier-class title with victory in Yamaha's home Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi on Sunday.

With this fantastic victory from Valentino Rossi Yamaha clinched World Championship, Team Championship
as well as Constructor Championship in one go! That is sheer perfection!

Rossi delivers!

Greatest ever? No question, no one can touch him, he is the greatest overall package ever to race motorcycles. Talent, determination, charisma, you name it, he has it. Also well done to Stoner for showing some humility at last, and congratulating Valentino. Well done to Yamaha, all the crew and Valentino. Bring on 2009!! Go Vale!

I would still like to see Vale do the triple - join Ducati before he retires and win another WC.

I am just so glad to be able to witness this golden time in Motogp, Vale defo the goat_
With George, Danny, Casy and vale all fighting for the crown in the next couple of years it sure has to be the best era for a long time.

We should all be happy with our hero's and rejoice in the talent this field of riders has, all we need now is a few more riders to fill the grid up and it would be perfect

A switch to Ducati would mean having to leave his team behind and he doesn't want that,
the people around him are an integral part of his racing career.
It may be an Italian dream but I don't think it's ever going to happen.

"would still like to see Vale do the triple - join Ducati before he retires and win another WC"

Nah it wont happen. The timing was just never right. He and Casey are both confident boys and would welcome each other as teammates, but sticking 2 top riders/drivers together as teammates often gets messy. Sometimes it works, but teams generally avoid it. Having said that, Lorenzo should be even stronger next year so Yamaha will likely be in that situation. It'll be interesting to see how the relationships evolve.

Vale has a good thing going at Yamaha, and as a fan I like the top riders bein on different machines.

The Golden er of MotoGP was 2000-2006. End of discussion.

Now however, the Legend Valentino will continue and make an even greater legacy over the next couple of years, and when he is gone, there better be damn a good man to fill the space after him!!

Congratiolations Valentino, Mr.MotoGP

Others argue that the Golden Era was with Schwantz, Rainey and Doohan duking it out.
Goes to show it's all a matter of perspective

I love the outcome of this season but would dearly like to see more races of the type of Laguna Seca his year,
and preferably with more than two people at the front.
If Dorna don't mess it up again and really find a way to bring down cornerspeed we might actually see that,
after all there's enough talent in the class at the moment

Not sure about the celebration not one of his best! but loved the t-shirt 'sorry for the delay!' Fantastic!!!!

Like others on this site i'm so privileged to be in this era watching him!

What respect riders have for him, 125, 250's even lorenzo (all be it kicking and screaming lol)cheering him on the track!!!

I do think that Rossi and Lorenzo will be a force next year - Bring on 2009!

Rossi to Ducati? Would like to have seen it once - but not now!, but think he will finish his career with Yamaha!

Congratulations Valentino!!!

Fantastic!

Well done Vale and Yamaha.

No settling for just enough points then! Brilliant! No wonder everyone love Vale!

Bernie Ecc - if you were watching this is REAL racing, not the dull processions you put on!

No doubt, his greatest championship ever. No tyre data, no team mate data of any use, and a bike that is slower than the Honda and Ducati in a straight line. Awesome stuff.

GOAT, Doctor, Legend, Il fenemeno Rossi...

How can any fan not love Rossi? The man is brilliant at his craft - maybe the best ever- and couples it with a wonderfully enjoyable personality. He is always magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat. He never takes himself too serious but obviously loves what he's doing.

In my mind he's the single greatest sportsman in the world today and as dominant as Jordan was in Basketball or Pele in Football.

Assen 4/9, Brno 4/9, Catalunya 5/9, Donington 5/9, Estoril 5/9, Indianapolis 1/1 (One race does not tell all), Jerez 5/9, Laguna Seca 1/4, Le Mans 3/9, Losail 2/5, Misano 1/2, Motegi 2/9, Mugello 7/9 (78% not the best track!), Nelson Piquet 4/5 (80% best track!), Phakisa Freeway 2/5, Phillip Island 5/8, Ricardo Tormo 2/8, Sachsenring 3/9, Sepang 4/8, Shanghai 2/4, Susuka 3/4. Average 49%!

Some say Rossi is not the best with most wins because Agostini's 8. Here we are at new bar level, at least 6 Championships, wins in 22/23 raced at, a bloody 'long' list of broken records. According to them any newcomer needs better to be considered worthy close to best… I like it, keep digging graves!

when you read this interview you understand why so many people around the world love this guy. He speaks with honesty, enthusiasm and above all modesty.

I hope Stoner reads the paragraph where Rossi says he had to learn to lose and it made him try even harder the next season. Rossi wins with dignity and more importantly loses with dignity. He also said he had to do some growing up... Hello Casey are you listening?

It's nice to hear that money isn't his God after all these years in the sport and that what's important to him is feeling comfortable in the team and with those around him.

Valentino, thank you for the hours of entertainment you've given over the years. #1
