Absolutely - he has earned it, so should use it. In fact, I'd like to see all riders required to go back to the 'old' system of racing with the numbers where they finished the previous season.

Don't use it, it's cursed, just ask Hayden, Rossi had the right idea. But before you say it, all things do come to an end.

Its not cursed at all, Nicky was lucky in the first place. I'd like him to keep 27 but if he wins the his second WC with the number one plate that would be sweet. However if he does win a second WC that would really upset the spec tyre loosers....err peaple and that might cause a drastic rule change to dissadvantage him and help peaple like pedrobot and Rossi.
hey ***27 when did you win your last championship??

all nicky haters get real he is the hardest working rider in the paddock if honda built the bike for nicky and not the spanish hobbit maby he would have had better results

Nicky fanboys should accept their 'world champion' was involved in the Moto GP year that: Gibernau/Melandri/Capirossi - all were injured in Barcelona. (When was the last time this happened that 3 title contenders all wipe out on the same day?). With them out of the running (in the points) all Nicky Hayden had to do was to have a string of bad luck on Rossi's bike (Which happened by mechanical (tyre/engine) breakdowns and being shoved off by Elias too) and the championship was his. Guess what happened.....and thus Nicky Hayden took the title with just TWO wins. ;) Two wins to become champion huh? That sounds really 'amazing' and world champion esque....NOT.

No guaranty that he (or Ducati) will repeat as World Champion(s) next year with a #1 on his bike or without just as there is no guaranty that he (or Ducati) will lose the World Championship next year with the #1 on his bike or without. I say run it and be proud of it while he (and Ducati) can.

it's a curse ... at least the curse will not appear immediately ... rainey ends up paralyzed, doohan ends up with all bones attached by super glue ... schwantz, roberts jr, criville they all suffered from very bad injuries ... not sure about hayden though ...

Much #27 merchandise goes to waste if the number changes, I am sure a good graphics person could incorparate both numbers, I personally would like him to keep #27, its been good to him, if it aint broke don't fix it.
