Monday saw newly announced Moriwaki Chinese Grand Prix wild-card, Tohru Ukawa, get his second taste of the RCV powered MD211VF that he will race at the May 1 Shanghai event.

Unfortunately for the former MotoGP race winner, rain at the Motegi circuit reduced the amount of progress possible - due to the impossibility of running Michelin slicks. As a result, the dry shakedown for the machine will now take place at the GP itself.

"We don't have much time before the Chinese Grand Prix, and we haven't been able to run the bike in the dry yet," Ukawa confirmed. "So I will now have to check and learn the machine during free practice and qualifying at Shanghai.

"In the race I want to finish in the top ten but, just counting Hondas alone, there are seven competitors. It might take time for us to set the bike up at Shanghai, but I'll be doing my best," he added.
