Chaz wins BBC award.

Leading 250cc World Championship privateer, Chaz Davies, has won the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year's youngster award.

Leading 250cc World Championship privateer, Chaz Davies, has won the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year's youngster award.

The award recognises the achievements of young sportsmen and women throughout Wales and was awarded jointly to the 18-year-old racer and 16-year-old middle-distance runner Non Stanford.

Davies, the only British rider competing in the championship, finished 16th in the end of season standings - with a best finish of tenth (twice).

Although he described his 2005 season as "average", Chaz was "very honoured" to have won the award.

Chaz is currently still in negotiations for the 2006 season, when he aims to have a more competitive machine with which to take on the factory riders.
