MotoGP » Denning defends Stoner.

Monday, 3rd September 2007

Rizla Suzuki team manager Paul Denning has hit out at Casey Stoner's critics, who attribute the Ducati rider's dominant 2007 season to anything but exceptional rider talent.

Comment on this Story
Stoner beat Suzuki team-mates Chris Vermeulen and John Hopkins to win his eighth race of the season at Misano on Sunday - putting him on the brink of a first world title - but the 21-year-old's critics claim that his stunning season is due to superior machinery and the new tyre rules.

"Rizla Suzuki would like to congratulate Casey Stoner on another unbelievable performance today," said Denning. "There has been a lot of nonsense spoken in MotoGP this year regarding tyre regulations, engine performance, etc. etc. I believe that the difference at the moment is Casey and we're focusing our best efforts to improve our own performance to beat him and that's what everybody should be doing."

Stoner's Ducati Marlboro team-mate Loris Capirossi finished 24.787secs behind the Australian in Sunday's race.
