Crash.net viewers support one-tyre rule?

Rossi's Qualifying Michelin tyre, Japanese MotoGP 2007

MotoGP » Crash.net viewers support one-tyre rule?

Friday, 5th October 2007

Almost two weeks have now passed since Dorna made an 'initial proposal' for a one-tyre rule in MotoGP next season, which would end the current competition between Bridgestone, Michelin and Dunlop.

Comment on this Story
Dorna's proposal was made because 'some factories believe that they can't have tyres which they think are competitive' next season.

A one-tyre rule should also make the racing closer and bring MotoGP in line with Formula One and World Superbike, but many believe that - as a pure prototype class - competition should exist in every area of MotoGP, tyres included.

All aspects of the controversial idea have been heavily debated since but, according to the results of a Crash.net poll - taken at 14.00 (UK time) on Friday October 5 - MotoGP fans support the 'one tyre brand for all' idea by 61%, with 39% against.

A final decision on the 2008 MotoGP tyre rules will be made by the Malaysian Grand Prix, on October 21.
