125: Title contenders up front.

MotoGP » 125: Title contenders up front.

Friday, 2nd November 2007

Hector Faubel, who enters this weekend's season-ending Valencian Grand Prix needing to overhaul team-mate Gabor Talmacsi's ten point lead, has gained the edge over the Hungarian in first qualifying.

Talmacsi led much of the half hour session, but home hero Faubel struck back with a minute to go. Talmacsi then literally matched the Spaniard, before Faubel pulled 0.146secs clear on his final lap.

Sergio Gadea made it an Aspar Aprilia one-two-three, and his performance could prove critical on Sunday since countryman Faubel needs at least one rider between himself and Talmacsi to take the title - even if he wins.
