Casey Stoner's title-winning year has come to a painful conclusion after the Ducati Marlboro star was injured during his second high-speed accident in as many days at Jerez.

The Australian escaped unharmed after a fast opening day fall from his new Desmosedici GP8, and still finished the opening day on top of the timesheets, but wasn't so fortunate on Wednesday...

Stoner's second accident, a highside at turn three of the Spanish Grand Prix circuit, left the 22-year-old with shoulder ligament damage - almost certainly ruling him out of the remainder of the test.

"Everything was going very well today. We were focusing on tyre testing, as we had planned, when I crashed at turn three. I hit the ground pretty heavily with my left shoulder," stated Stoner. "Straight away the injury was really painful, so I went to the Clinica Mobile where they fitted me with a sling and strapped the shoulder. We will wait and see how I feel tomorrow but I think it's going to be difficult to continue this test."

With the winter test ban starting on December 1, Stoner will probably next be seen on a Desmosedici at Sepang on January 22, 2008.

In his absence, former 250GP rival Dani Pedrosa set the day two pace, the Spaniard becoming the first rider to break the 1min 40 barrier at the test as he circulated 0.141secs clear of new Bridgestone rider Valentino Rossi.
