The Japanese, who rode a Michelin-shod Honda this season, is back on Bridgestones for 2008 with Honda Gresini - and set the fifth fastest lap time at Jerez, albeit 1.559secs from factory Honda rider Dani Pedrosa

"I'm very satisfied with these three days of testing, we have worked methodically and the atmosphere in the garage with my new team is friendly and we are all very motivated," said Shinya. "Today we completed the programme testing some new rear tyres and working on the clutch setting. I'm happy because we improved the race pace and I was the first Bridgestone rider. After a long season, tomorrow I will fly to Japan to spend some time with my family and to relax."

Rookie team-mate Alex de Angelis finished the year seventh on the timesheets after lapping just a fraction slower than Nakano.

"I'm very happy, Today I was more confident," said the former 250 star. "We tested some different electronic settings and improved a lot the feeling with the bike. In particular, we succeeded in reducing the chattering. Today we made a big step forward, I improved the rhythm lapping in low 1min 40.9secs. I'm very motivated and the relation with my new mechanics helps me a lot."
