Fausto Gresini left Jerez claiming that his eponymous MotoGP team had made good progress in its preparations for the forthcoming season after three days of running the latest version of Honda's RC212V.

The sun finally came out early on the final afternoon in southern Spain, providing improved track conditions for the San Carlo-backed team which allowed it to continue set-up work and complete more development work with Bridgestone ahead of the opening race of the season, in Qatar, next month.

“We've gathered a lot of information over these last three days, and I'm satisfied with the work ethic from the riders and the whole team," Gresini commented, "For the first time, we've had fully updated bikes from Honda and we've worked hard to set them up with the first grand prix of the season in mind.

"We've still got one more test in Qatar which, for us, will be very important to define some of the details of the package available to us at this point. But it has definitely been a positive test."

Both Shinya Nakano and Alex de Angelis were able to take advantage of the improved conditions to gather lots of data, with the Japanese veteran happy to have gone some way to improving the feel of his machine.

“Today, we worked really hard on eliminating the front-end chatter and we did manage to improve it, although it is not perfect yet," Nakano reported, "Towards the end of the day, the balance and the setting of the bike were better and I was able to test some different qualifying tyres, but I know that I can improve even more and that's the objective for the next test.”

de Angelis, meanwhile, clocked a 1min 39.932secs best effort in the course of 56 laps, putting himself eighth fastest overall, just ahead of his team-mate.
