A successful evening in the quarter-litre category for Aprilia saw Team Toth's Hector Barbera take the provisional number one spot, ahead of Polaris World's Mattia Pasini and Mapfre Aspar's Alvaro Bautista.

Marco Simoncelli prevented an overnight Aprilia front-row sweep with fourth for the Metis Gilera team, just ahead of Thomas Luthi, KTM's Mika Kallio.

Eugene Laverty was 21st after a fall.
