"Today has gone very well," said the San Marinese. "The new material provided by Bridgestone for the tests, here in Estoril, has completely satisfied my expectations in terms of performance. In fact I improved on my best lap time, compared to yesterday's race, by two seconds. I'm happy with these tests results because today I feel that there are positive chances to make a good race during the next Grand Prix of China."
Experienced team-mate Nakano, a best of eleventh (qualifying) and ninth (race) so far this year, confirmed that the current focus is very much on tyres.
"Today we focused mainly on tyre testing with
Bridgestone, with the objective of improving our performance in the races and in qualifying," said the Japanese, just 0.57secs faster than de Angelis at the test. "I'm satisfied because we tried a tyre that was already a step forward and now Bridgestone's engineers can gather all the data together and use it in development of some new material for the next race."
'Bridgestone will now be able to take the data back and analyse it at their Japanese base before using it to come up with new material for the team in their next race at Shanghai, in China, on May 4th', Gresini's press release concluded.
