Ducati could call up Bayliss, Biaggi.

MotoGP » Ducati could call up Bayliss, Biaggi.

Thursday, 17th April 2008

Ducati MotoGP project director, Livio Suppo, has confirmed that the factory is considering asking two of its World Superbike stars, Troy Bayliss and Max Biaggi, to test the GP8.

Ducati Xerox rider Bayliss is currently on target to win his third WSBK crown, during his final year of racing, while Biaggi - a triple race winner during a superb rookie WSBK season with Alstare Suzuki - switched to the satellite Sterilgarda Go Eleven team for 2008, but has seen his title hopes hit by a broken wrist. Nevertheless, Biaggi has already said he is willing to test the GP bike.

The forthcoming Chinese Grand Prix is seen as something of a litmus test for Ducati's 2008 season. The Shanghai circuit, and particularly its huge back straight, should play into the hands of the powerful Bridgestone-shod Desmosedici - which Stoner took to victory one year ago.

If Ducati struggles at Shanghai it could mean problems for the rest of the season.
