By taking his first MotoGP victory, last time out in Portugal, Jorge Lorenzo also claimed the honour of being the 100th rider to win a 500cc/MotoGP race since the premier-class began in 1949.

• The rider with the most premier-class victories is Giacomo Agostini, who scored 68 wins between 1965 and 1976.

• Agostini also holds the record of 20 successive premier-class victories in the 1968 and 1969 seasons.
