The classic Assen is the venue for the mid-way point in the increasingly competitive MotoGP season...

Marco Melandri is another hoping to revive his dismal 2008 form, while on the flip side Alex de Angelis will be chasing further improvements in a breakthrough season that continues to win him plenty of new fans.

In the 250cc class, Mika Kallio's third win of the season at Donington Park keeps him at an arms length to second place Marco Simoncelli, who gifted the Finn victory when he misjudged a move on Alvaro Bautista. He will looking to make amends at Assen.

Meanwhile, 250cc rider Scott Redding will be a man under the scope in the Netherlands after making history at Donington Park as the youngest ever Grand Prix winner. Although the likelihood of the 15-year-old repeating that feat is probably lower in Assen, he will nonetheless be looking to match current championship leader Mike di Meglio.
