Scott Redding loses out on the chance to win the coveted BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year.

Scott Redding's hopes of landing the prestigious BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award has come to an end after he was missing from the final shortlist of three.

Fifteen year-old Redding hit the headlines earlier this year by becoming the youngest rider to win a motorcycle grand prix event when he triumphed at his home Donington Park round.

A British rider had never won a grand prix at Donington Park before and Scott's incredible achievement also marked the first grand prix victory by any British rider since Jeremy McWilliams in the 2001 250cc Dutch TT.

However, despite making the final ten, Redding won't be following in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney and Andy Murray, after a panel chaired by John Inverdale omitted him from the final three.

He lost out to diver Tom Daley, Wimbledon girls' champion Laura Robson and gold medal winning paralympic swimmer Eleanor Simmonds.
