Seven times world champion Read is one of only two riders to have won 125, 250 and 500cc titles, the other being present MotoGP superstar Valentino Rossi. Read is also the last rider to win the premier class on a four-stroke machine, although he could be dislodged from that particular echelon by Rossi at the end of the current season. Read took 52 grand prix wins en route to one 125, four 250 and two 500cc world titles.

Six times world champion Duke was one of the pioneers of early grand prix racing, riding both Norton and Gilera to world championship success at famous tracks such as the TT circuit on the Isle of Man. Duke was four times winner of the World 500cc Championship and twice winner of the 350cc crown. The 79-year old now lives on the Isle of Man.
