Daijiro, the 2001 250cc world champion who lost his life after an accident in the premier-class 2003 Japanese Grand Prix, had wanted to promote motorsport in Japan and create a school of young champions.

His dream was realised last year with the creation of the Daijiro Cup, a series for minimoto machines. This year the 74 Series has been established and involves 60 children between five and 12, who compete in a five race championship at the Akigase track.
