Truex Jr's rapidly disintegrating car was the cause of the 13th and final caution period on lap 392 and when the green flag finally waved for the final time Edwards had just four laps to hold off his remaining rivals. Despite a concerted effort from Biffle in the final laps Edwards held on to take the chequered flag and leap five places up the championship ladder after a day that completely shuffled the championship pecking order.
Biffle, Earnhardt Jr and Martin took second, third and fourth places with Kyle Busch the next Chase runner in fifth. Busch's Hendrick teammate Casey Mears was the only other lead lap finisher in sixth place while Burton managed to keep out of trouble to bring his ill-handling #31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet home in a surprise seventh, third best of the championship contenders.
McMurray recovered from his altercation with Juan Montoya to take eighth place while Tony Stewart salvaged ninth from a day that saw him run outside the top 20 most of the day. Montoya got the better of Jeff Gordon for tenth place while Bowyer finished 12th, his car hobbled following his scrape with Hamlin and Petty.
Truex Jr's radiator cried enough two laps from home and he slipped from seventh to 13th on the final lap while Johnson amazingly finished 14th despite being two laps off the pace for more than half of the race. Of the other title hopefuls Harvick eventually claimed 20th place, four laps behind the leaders while Kurt Busch was one of 15 retirements and was classified 28th. Kenseth's engine failure relegated him to 35th while Hamlin's brake related woes resulted in a 38th place finish.
