Bowyer strikes first.

Sunday, 16th September 2007

RCR man takes maiden Cup Series win after dominating performance at New Hampshire.

Despite the seven caution periods all 43 starters were still running at the finish, a situation that perhaps led to the extra caution displayed by the title contenders in the closing stages. But while caution may have been the watchword in this race, there are already several drivers, notably Busch, Burton and Harvick, who will have to push that little bit harder next weekend at Dover to get back in contention.

Thanks to his race winning dominance Bowyer rises from 12th to fourth in the points table 15 points behind joint leaders Gordon and Johnson and five points behind Stewart. Kyle Busch is 35 points behind his Hendrick teammates in fifth with Truex Jr a further five points back in sixth. The rest of the contenders, led by Kenseth in seventh, are already more than 50 points off the lead.
