Reutimann to replace Jarrett.

Saturday, 13th October 2007

Current Nextel Cup rookie to step into #44 Toyota when Dale Jarrett retires in 2008.

David Reutimann has been confirmed as Dale Jarrett's replacement in the #44 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota when Jarrett retires following the fifth race of the 2008 season.

Reutimann, who currently lies 39th in the drivers standings in his first full season on the Nextel Cup circuit, has actually qualified for more races than both his MWR teammates Michael Waltrip and Dale Jarrett but has been unable to get the #00 Dominos Pizza/Burger King backed entry into the top 35 in team points.

With no sponsor confirmed for the #00 team next year Reutimann will start the season in his current ride as Jarrett attempts to get the #44 UPS Toyota into the top 35 in team points during the first five races of 2008.

Whether the #44 is guaranteed a place on the grid each week or not following race five at the Bristol Motor Speedway Reutimann will step into the seat vacated by Jarrett for the Martinsville race next April.

So far in 2007 Reutimann has a best finish of 13th achieved at Richmond in September.
