Ron Hornaday Jnr has predicted ‘four-wide, side-by-side' racing in the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, after testing his #2 Camping World Chevrolet Silverado ahead of the rule changes before the start of the new season.

The three-time champion was joined in the Goodyear tyre test at Atlanta Motor Speedway by six-time AMS winner Bobby Labonte, with the former's fastest lap on the second day of testing logged at 174.669 mph (31.74 seconds).

“With the rules changing for the 2008 season, we are having to make some adjustments,” commented Hornaday Jnr, the October Craftsman truck race-winner at AMS. “These changes are going to make the racing even more exciting.

“If you thought it was exciting watching Bobby and I race to the finish line in 2005, we are probably going to be four-wide, side-by-side racing to the stripe next time we come here!”

“Atlanta makes for great racing because you can pass,” added 2000 NASCAR Cup Champion Labonte, who set a best of 182.789 mph (30.33 seconds) behind the wheel of his primer gray Petty Enterprises car. “You don't just run behind each other, you can move around and pass.”
