Further down the list Kyle Busch qualified 31st fastest on his debut with Joe Gibbs Racing, defending Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick went 33rd fastest in his #29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet and open wheel converts Dario Franchitti, Juan Montoya and Sam Hornish Jr wound up 39th, 42nd and 43rd, all three at least certain of a start in the race itself.
