Persistent rain forces NASCAR to postpone Saturday's Nationwide Series race at the Auto Club Speedway.
For the second consecutive day rain played havoc with the schedule at the Auto Club Speedway in California as the Stater Bros 300 Nationwide Series race never made it out of the garage.
After all on-track activity for the Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series races was cancelled on Friday the rains relented briefly early on Saturday afternoon to give the Cup driver half an hour's practice time and, remarkably, allow the Truck drivers to complete the 100-lap San Bernardino County 200. However as afternoon turned to early evening the wet stuff returned with a vengeance.
Even with floodlights surrounding the two-mile oval it was clear that Saturday night would remain wet and shortly after the 8pm scheduled start time NASCAR was forced to call it a day.
Weather permitting the race will now run ONE HOUR after the conclusion of Sunday's Auto Club 500 Sprint Cup race. That decision will mean that 12 drivers, including Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kyle Busch and Dario Franchitti, will be forced to pull double duty.
