Tuesday saw the second and final day of Sprint Cup testing at the Phoenix International Raceway with Colombian ace Juan Montoya setting the fastest time of the entire test on the final morning.
Montoya turned a fastest lap of 27.385-seconds in his #42 Ganassi Racing Dodge, the only lap of the one-mile dogleg oval quicker than the 27.442-seconds effort from DEI's Paul Menard set on Monday morning.
Roush-Fenway Racing teammates Jamie McMurray and Greg Biffle were second and third fastest in the morning session with Haas CNC Racing's Scott Riggs quickest in the afternoon, albeit after more than half of the 47 teams present had packed up and started the long trek back to their North Carolina bases.
Montoya and Menard officially end the two-day test first and second overall with JJ Yeley third, Reed Sorenson fourth and McMurray fifth but while the drivers can now enjoy a whole two days off before practice begins at the Atlanta Motor Speedway the majority of the team truck drivers must travel from Arizona to North Carolina and then straight down to Georgia to set up for the Kobalt Tools 500 weekend.
