Less than 24 hours after claiming his sixth career pole position at the half-mile Martinsville Speedway Jeff Gordon was back atop the timing sheets as he led Saturday's final Happy Hour practice session at the paperclip shaped oval.

Gordon's best lap of 19.840-seconds in his #24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet beat Jamie McMurray's #26 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford by four hundredths of a second as once again the entire 43-car Sprint Cup field was separated by just half a second.

Gordon's teammate Jimmie Johnson, who led Saturday's first practice session, was third fastest with Roush-Fenway drivers David Ragan and Carl Edwards completing the top five.

Martin Truex Jr, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick were next up with Ryan Newman ninth in the fastest Dodge and Tony Stewart tenth in the leading Toyota.
