With its proud record at the Texas Motor Speedway it was no surprise to see two Roush-Fenway Racing cars occupying the top two positions in Saturday afternoon's final Happy Hour Sprint Cup practice session at the super-fast 1.5-mile oval in Fort Worth.

Just as he did on Saturday morning Carl Edwards set the overall pace in his #99 Ford with a best time of 29.181-seconds (185.052mph) marking him out as the man to beat when the green flag drops at the start of Sunday's 334-lap Samsung 500. Edwards, who has been nigh on invincible on the intermediate and Superspeedway tracks so far this year, will start second in Sunday's race and has been either first or second in every practice and qualifying session so far this weekend.

Second fastest was Edwards' teammate Greg Biffle with Jimmie Johnson, another driver who has featured strongly all weekend in third place on the timesheets in the leading Hendrick Motorsports entry.

Paul Menard, Dave Blaney and David Gilliland provided a welcome change amongst the frontrunners with fourth, fifth and sixth fastest times respectively with Coors Pole winner Dale Earnhardt Jr seventh, Kyle Busch eighth, Friday practice leader David Reutimann ninth and David Ragan rounding out the top ten.

Tony Stewart's off-song weekend continued as he set 28th fastest time although that was still a better effort than Jeff Gordon, whose winless streak in Texas looks set to continue after he was 35th fastest. Michael McDowell's comeback from his horrifying crash in qualifying continued with the rookie setting 37th fastest time.
