Denny Hamlin romped to a popular Nationwide Series victory on Friday evening at the Richmond International Raceway in front of an enthusiastic home crowd as Joe Gibbs Racing continued to dominate NASCAR's second tier.
Hamlin, who earlier in the day took pole position for Saturday night's Crown Royal 400 Sprint Cup event, capitalised on a late decision to take fresh tyres before passing Kevin Harvick to win the Lipton Tea 250.
While the win was Hamlin's first of the year in the Nationwide Series it was the seventh in eleven races for his Joe Gibbs Racing team, who also saw Kyle Busch take third place behind Harvick and move to within 12 points of current points leader Clint Bowyer.
David Ragan and youngster Steven Wallace completed the top five with Wallace on course for a top three finish until a final lap clash with Busch cost him two spots.
David Stremme, Carl Edwards, Mike Bliss, point leader Bowyer and Scott Wimmer rounded out the top ten.
