Tony Stewart takes first career victory in Nationwide Series race at Darlington.

Although he has failed to break into the winners circle in the Sprint Cup Series this season Tony Stewart has certainly been a man on fire in the Nationwide Series as he claimed his fourth win from just six starts so far this year in Friday night's crash-filled Diamond Hill Plywood 200.

Stewart held off Clint Bowyer in a green-white-chequered flag finish on the demanding 1.366-mile to continue Joe Gibbs Racing's dominance of the still-young 2008 campaign.

Bowyer continues to lead the standings after many of the fancied runners came to grief while Stewart's win lifts him into the championship top 20 despite starting only half the races.

David Reutimann finished third with Truck racer Todd Bodine fourth and the improving Steven Wallace fifth.

With last week's winner Denny Hamlin failing to start after a crash and both Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch hitting the wall in the race itself a number of non Cup drivers claimed top finishes with David Stremme, Jason Keller, Chase Miller, Jason Leffler and Marcos Ambrose finishing in positions six through ten.

Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin were among a number of leading contenders wiped out in a late restart crash while Jeff Burton, David Ragan and Matt Kenseth were also among the list of those who failed to go the distance.

The surrounding carnage played into the hands of none other than 66 year-old Morgan Shepherd who finished an impressive 16th, his third consecutive race finish following nearly five straight years of DNF's.
