Following a lap 145 pit road penalty for a loose lug nut that dropped him to 23rd Busch wasn't immediately able to capitalise on Biffle's misfortune as both Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin took turns in the lead. But by the lap 300 mark the driver of the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota had fought his way back to the front and was able to cruise away over the final 60 laps to not only join Carl Edwards at the top of the ‘most wins' list so far in 2008 but also extend his Sprint Cup points lead to nearly 80 over Jeff Burton.
Biffle's Roush-Fenway Racing teammate Edwards finished a slightly distant second despite failing to lead a lap all night while defending Darlington winner Jeff Gordon was another driver who didn't feature in the top five most of the night but who saved his equipment for a late race surge to take third spot.
Dale Earnhardt Jr, who started from the outside of the front row, was certainly a driver who featured strongly right from the word go and claimed fourth place with David Ragan an impressive fifth after another mature driver.
Matt Kenseth enjoyed his first largely trouble free race in several weeks to take sixth place with Hamlin seventh, Travis Kvapil an excellent eighth for Yates Racing, Dave Blaney a seasons best ninth for Bill Davis Racing and Jeff Burton a typically smart tenth on a night where his Richard Childress Racing entry was not a contender.
Jimmie Johnson struggled to 13th place with Richmond winner Clint Bowyer 15th, Tony Stewart 21st after losing a lap in a lap two clash with Elliott Sadler.
Despite the numerous scrapes with the wall everyone who did make contact with the outside SAFER barriers was able to make repairs and finish the race with only the luckless Biffle and fellow engine victim Patrick Carpentier failing to see the chequered flag.
