Kyle Busch will start from pole position in Saturday night's Million Dollar Sprint All Star race following a real team effort from the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing team.
Busch completed his three lap qualifying run, which included a mandatory four tyre pitstop in simulated race conditions, half a second faster than his nearest rival and will lead the 24 strong grid to the green flag for Saturday's four-part, 100-lap dash for the cash around the 1.5-mile Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Busch, who currently leads the Sprint Cup points standings, will start alongside Hendrick Motorsports' Jeff Gordon with Kurt Busch, who controversially clashed with his younger brother during last year's event, starting third and Martin Truex Jr in fourth.
Greg Biffle, Jamie McMurray, Jeff Burton, Ryan Newman, Clint Bowyer and Bobby Labonte round out the top ten on the starting grid while further back in the order Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson were among those who were given time penalties for speeding on pit road and/or leaving lug nuts loose. Johnson will start 21st and last after his time was disallowed for pitting outside the designated pit box.
Three drivers will join the list of those already qualified from the preceding Sprint Showdown; the top two finishers and the winner of the fan vote.
In his last NASCAR start the returning Dale Jarrett qualified 18th for the #44 Michael Waltrip Racing team.
