Dale Earnhardt Jr brings 76 race winless streak to an end in Michigan.

Kahne coughed home for second place with Matt Kenseth, Brian Vickers and Tony Stewart completing the top five. Jimmie Johnson finished sixth after leading the field up to the final round of stops with Carl Edwards seventh, David Ragan eighth, Elliott Sadler ninth and McMurray, who had to stop for fuel under the final caution, completing the top ten.

Championship leader Kyle Busch finished 13th with Jeff Gordon 18th, Greg Biffle 20th after a late race pit road violation and Hornish Jr 22nd after his late spin. Prior to that Hornish had been challenging Johnson for the lead in what was his most accomplished NASCAR performance to date.

Scotland's Dario Franchitti had a short day when engine problems put him out after just 30 laps, resulting in a 43rd place finish.
