Defending NASCAR Nationwide (Busch) Series champion Carl Edwards saw his decision to race in California and Wisconsin on the same weekend pay off as he took his first NWS victory of the season at the famous Milwaukee Mile.
Edwards, one of five drivers who elected to pull double duty this weekend, hopped on a plane from the Infineon Raceway in California and flew half way across the country in time to take the start of the Camping World RV Rental 250.
But despite having to start from the rear of the grid Edwards scrapped his way to the front and managed to break the Joe Gibbs/Toyota stranglehold on Victory Lane following a highly entertaining climax to the 17th round of the 35 race season.
Edwards held off the precociously talented Joey Logano in the final laps to claim his first NWS win in more than a year but he also fought tooth and nail with current points leader Clint Bowyer in the closing laps. Bowyer finished third with two more double duty drivers, David Ragan and David Reutimann, rounding out the top five.
Scott Wimmer, Mike Bliss and Brad Keselowski, who dominated the first half of the race, finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively with Jason Keller and Jason Leffler completing the top ten.
Australian Marcos Ambrose who, earlier in the day, set the fastest time in Cup Series practice at Infineon, finished on the lead lap in 16th position.
