The GP2 Series has confirmed that, in the absence of its hoped-for 'winter series', it will stage a quartet of off-season test sessions before the end of the year.

Interestingly, italiaracing.net reports that GP2 veteran Giorgio Pantano, who was expected to leave the series after his double Monza triumph, will be in action for Campos Racing, although the outing is likely to be as much about helping the Spanish team provide a benchmark for rookie Roldan Rodriguez as the Italian seeking a berth for 2007.

Drives with previous GP2 experience, such as Fairuz Fauzy, Jose Maria Lopez, Luca Filippi, Lucas di Grassi, Adam Carroll - despite his appearance at last weekend's Champ Car round - Andreas Zuber, Jason Tahinci, Javier Villa and Vitaly Petrov are all listed as participating in next week's test, where they could be joined by newcomers Guillaume Moreau, Alberto Valerio, Tuka Rocha, Gavin Cronje, Christian Bakkerud, Charlie Kimball and Michael Patrizi.
