Ian Hutchinson on the Bike Animal Honda has taken his first TT win in the PokerStars Supersport race. He beat fellow Honda rider, John McGuinness on the Padgetts machine over the line by 2.83secs. Third place went to Guy Martin on the Hydrex Honda.

Bruce Anstey riding the black Relentless Suzuki by TAS had lead the race up until his pit stop and that is when it went wrong. His Suzuki wouldn't fire back up as his crew pushed him down the pit lane, this lost him valuable time. The Honda pair had very fast pit stops which made up the gap to Anstey and on leaving the pits McGuinness and Hutchy were now first and second with Martin third and Anstey pushed back to fourth place.

Hutchinson was over joyed to take his first win and it was made even sweeter as he was disqualified from the 600 podium last year due to a technical infringement with his machine. “Wow! To be honest on the first two laps I was P3 and I was like “what is it with P3?!” I've got to say thanks to Honda for giving me a chance. Thanks to all the guys as they worked really hard all week. I'm also pleased to have got my fitness back after my crash at Oulton,” he said.

The race felt too perfect to Hutchy as he explained, “I didn't want to try harder as that is when you make a mistake. There were a lot of back markers from Sulby on ward. I know John is good over the Mountain so I just concentrated on my lines and my gear changes. I've had more pressure this year but I've not thought about it. It was an enjoyable race and the weather was perfect. The race went perfect and on the fourth lap I took extra care as it had gone almost too perfect!”

At end of last season McGuinness wasn't signed up for a full time ride until Padgetts made him an offer as he explained, “I didn't have a job at the end of last year until Clive Padgett stepped in. He put his faith in me and I gave it all and went as hard as I could. The Pitstop went great and I came out leader.”
