McGuinness had a problem from the first lap as he lost a knee slider, At the end of lap one I lost a knee slider which was unnerving as every time I put my knee down it was trying to rip me off the bike. I'm over the moon with the race and it is another Honda 1-2-3 and Dunlop 1-2-3. I've no excuses but I met a lot of traffic and with the 600 you've got to keep it wound out all the time. In myself I felt like I did my best.
Hutchinson and McGuinness are good friends and it is well known that McGuinness has shown Hutchinson round the TT track, He did a good job, I'm pleased for him, maybe I taught him too much! quipped McGuinness.
Martin was once again pleased and disappointed all at the same time as he badly wants a TT win especially during the Centenary year, That was mint but not a win. I got trapped with back markers but everyone had the same traffic to get through, so I've no excuses. I need to get my finger out for Friday, said the fast talking Lancastrian, I think I slept for two laps, I hung about and I should have cracked on. I'd got P3 and P4 on my board and I got my finger out, stuck to my lines and got my gear changes right.
Although Martin felt he had hung about too much he really did put a good lap together on lap four as he took the lap record with a speed of 125.161secs. I came out of Governors and made a pig's ear of it, but I got the lap record and that was the lap that felt like I was off to the shops. I want to win on Friday but whatever will be will be, if you try to make it happen it can end in tears.
Early race leader Anstey was relegated to fourth place due to the difficulties with his pit stop. He was followed by Nigel Beattie on the CD Racing Yamaha, Manx Man Conor Cummins was sixth a superb achievement for the 21-year-old.
Ulsterman Ryan Farquhar on the Harker Kawasaki was seventh and just behind him was new comer Steve Plater on the Optoma Loans Yamaha. Plater had a good run on the 600 moving from 31st place to eighth.
